in Paris: Pavillon des Arts : Under a glass and steel building, since 1983 this
exhibition area is part of the cultural complex established in the heart of the
new Les Halles quarter. In close co-operation with cultural institutions, the
major French and foreign museums, the Pavillon des Arts aims to organise temporary
exhibitions open to all forms of art, all cultures and all eras: painting, sculpture,
objets d'art, photography, costumes... Le pont Mirabeau: This iron bridge was
constructed during the years 1893-1896 using the plans of Jean Resal. It was inaugurated
by President Félix Faure on 11 April 1897. La Ville de Paris and la Navigation
, t wo of the four statues made by Injalbert . Le pont de Bir-Hakeim : The Bir
Hakeim bridge was built in the years 1903-1905 after a request had been made for
its construction as an adjunct of the Universal Exposition of 1900. For many years
it was called the Passy Viaduct, but in 1949 was renamed as a tribute to General
Koenig's June 1942 victory in Libya. |
